openpilot 0.10.0 Update: New Driving Model, Better Traffic Handling, More Cars

Openpilot has just crossed a major milestone with the release of version 0.10.0. After years on the 0.9 series, this update marks the start of something new — with a rebuilt driving model, smarter traffic handling, and fresh tools for both drivers and developers. I’ve put together a full walkthrough video to break down all the key changes and what they mean for the future of Openpilot.

After three years on the 0.9 series, Openpilot 0.10.0 has arrived, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the platform. The headline feature is the World Model Planner, a brand-new driving model that removes the old MPC system and directly predicts a smooth, feasible path from the car’s current position. The result is cleaner, more natural driving, and a strong foundation for future improvements.

This release also improves stop-and-go traffic handling by reducing ignored low-speed training data by over 25%, making Openpilot better at recognizing stopped vehicles ahead. On top of that, lagd steering delay learning is now fully enabled for sharper steering, and new community feedback tools make it easy to generate detailed reports and clips from your drives.

Drivers also get new features like dashcam audio recording, while developers benefit from a cleaner codebase and the release of commaCarSegments v2, a dataset covering over 230 platforms and 3,100 hours of driving. Car support continues to expand too, with new ports for the 2025 Acura MDX and the 2023–25 Honda Accord, CR-V, and Pilot.

Overall, Openpilot 0.10.0 isn’t just another update — it’s the foundation for the next stage of the project. With smarter driving, better tools, and broader car support, this release sets the stage for even bigger things to come.
